For years, Republicans have underfunded public schools by cutting critical support staff like social workers, school nurses, and psychologists. As a result, North Carolina has one school psychologist for every 1,900 students. Now Republicans want to exacerbate this lack of funding with an extreme bill, Senate Bill 49, that will harm kids, pit teachers and parents against each other, and solve nothing.

SB 49 is yet another power grab from Republicans, who are intent on controlling every aspect of our lives. Republicans have repeatedly shown they care more about hoarding power than they do about governing and improving our state. Just like we don’t need politicians in our doctor’s offices, we don’t need politicians in our kids’ classrooms.
