Living in North Carolina on a teacher's salary.

The North Carolina General Assembly has adjourned for 2019. Our public school teachers will get a raise of only 3.9% over two years. Senate Republicans offered an additional 0.5% raise over two years (for a teacher making $35,000 a year this equals out to only $87.50 per year BEFORE TAXES) if their full budget with more corporate tax cuts had been enacted and the Governor's veto overridden.

This is not a compromise. Governor Cooper initially wanted teachers to get a 9.2% pay raise over two years. His compromise budget offer would have given teachers an 8.5% pay raise over two years. AND Gov. Cooper would have restored masters pay.
